People hustle and bustle home in its rays

As the world winds down from another today
families at home relax and mellow

Farmers come in from feeding cows & horses their hay
After long days away from the barn in the meadows

As people kneel down next to their beds to pray

A DAY AT THE MALL WITH MY SWEETHEART

We left the dorms together to climb in his Chevy S10, we were driving to the Galleria Mall
I gave Scotty directions because he tends to get lost while we laughed and talked about
all the events from the night before he smelled of Adidas after shave and 5 Cobalt gum

We found parking at the mall in our usual spot next to the Cheesecake Factory, but
we walk through the electronics section not even looking at anything because
we really just want to get to Hot Topic, we come out of JCPenney and there’s
Auntie Anne’s, he loves pretzels with cheese

After we get out pretzels, his with salt, mine without, we sit by the fountain and eat
and watch the other people in the mall making fun of the oddities of each then
a short trip up the stairs and a little to the right is Hot Topic, it’s my favorite store

We go in and look around because we know we’re both too broke to actually buy anything
I drag him around by his hand like a leash, I get jealous of any girl who may look his way
and we look at all the belts and shoes and the t-shirts with funny sayings

Next we go to Dairy Queen so I can get a Mocha Moo Latte Scotty gets an Orange Julius,
they’re his favorite        after that we walk around holding hands and sipping our choice drinks,
he laughs at the sounds I make

We wander our way into Spencer’s another of our favorite stores and look at all the shot glasses
and belt buckles        he contemplates buying a Punisher buckle but decides against it
because he wouldn’t know how to put it on and finally we make our way back to the S10
and head back to school
